Vaeara'i sails from the Papeete ferry terminal to the Vaiare quay on Moorea in about 55 minutes. Over the next seven days, Vaeara'i publishes 3 to 5 departures a day from Papeete to Moorea, between 06:10 and 18:45. One way, adult visitor: 1,900 XPF (published fare, read on October 4, 2026). To the Leeward Islands, Vaeara'i calls at Huahine, Raiatea, Taha'a and Bora Bora; next departure from Papeete on Fri 23 Oct at 20:00.

Route and terminals

From the Papeete ferry terminal, on the downtown waterfront, to the Vaiare quay on the east coast of Moorea, and back.

From Papeete to Huahine, Raiatea, Taha'a and Bora Bora, in that order; in reverse on the way back.

Between Papeete and Vaiare, Vaeara'i carries passengers, cars and two-wheelers; from its published timetable, the crossing takes about 55 minutes. Its first boat of the morning has a fare of its own, ‘A’ahiata, sold only at the ticket desk.

To the Leeward Islands, the ship usually leaves Papeete on Friday at 8 pm and sails overnight. It reaches Bora Bora on Saturday at 9:40 am, leaves again at 3:30 pm and is back in Papeete on Sunday at 6:25 am. It also takes cars, motorbikes and bicycles; a vehicle always travels with its driver.

Buying a ticket

Vaeara'i tickets are sold at the ticket desk or on the company's website. To the Leeward Islands, the company asks for an ID, and the registration papers of a vehicle. Fenua Move sells no tickets.

Weather and cancellations

In heavy seas or for a technical reason, Vaeara'i may cancel or move a departure; the company then publishes a notice. Fenua Move shows it as it is, in French, at the top of the timetable and on the departure concerned, and notifies whoever follows that departure.
